Happy Father's Day šŸ’™šŸŽ‰

I just realized that this will be the 15th anniversary of me signing up for my first marathon!

My dad has been running marathons since I was very young. So for Father's Day 2010 my gift to him was signing up for the California International Marathon so we could train together.

Long story short, race day was miserable šŸ˜‚

From getting sick at mile 9 to dehydration setting in at mile 15 to muscle cramps at mile 20... But I finished.

And all with the strong, seasoned support of my first running coach.

Thank you, Dad!

This is the time of year when running starts to feel really hard and your long distance goals are months ahead.

So it's time to dig into your "why" behind your run.

For some, it's solo time. It's what you need to set up a healthy mind and body for the day ahead.

For others, it might be to set an example. To stay strong enough to keep up with the kids... or completely show them up on their first marathon, like mine did šŸ˜‚

Here's to making the most of your miles and setting an example of strength for yourself and the family that surrounds you. Taking care of your body is taking care of your future. Showing up each day is showing up for you and your family.

Happy Father’s Day — to the ones leading by example with every step.

A special Happy Father's Day to my dad. Without his example of showing up, I may never have signed up for my first marathon and pursued a career surrounded by other inspiring runners.

P.S. We came back the next year for vengence in 2011 and I PR'd by over 40 minutes for my second marathon.

California International Marathon 2011:

Marine Corps Marathon 2022:

(Marathon #40 for Dad, Marathon #10 for me, totalling 5 marathons together)

"That's nice, but when can I run again?"
This is a quote from a new client of mine last month. After explaining the results and findings of his assessment, he got to the point and asked: "That's nice, but when can I run again?"Ā  Sometimes as a clinician I can get wrapped up in clinical reasoning brain and forget the real underlying question. I'm trying to train myself to be better at thinking from the perspective of a runner and helpi...
Running for Two (Round Two)
This past weekend, I ran the Monument 10k at 15 weeks pregnant with my second. My mom joined as well and honestly, it was one of the most fun races I've ever done!Ā  This is my second pregnancy, but I'm still learning how to adjust everyday to this new and changing experience. It helps me remember a lesson I try to tell my clients dealing with injury or coming back from time off running... ANN...
